Second Star Sponsor Club
We want to give every animal the best chance at a good life. Sometimes we are contacted regarding animals that are a little more tricky to rehome, some of which are diagnosed with various ongoing medical conditions or sadly coming to the end of their life. Unfortunately, the costs associated with regular vet care and long term treatments for these particular animals- as well as the emotional impact- means they are unlikely to be adopted and are likely to remain in rescue, which is why we created our Sponsor Scheme.
These special animals are adopted into Sponsor Homes that can meet their individual needs and give them the best life possible. The sponsor family, take care of all the day to day necessities as they would with any pet (food, water, litter, flea and worm treatments, annual vaccinations etc) whilst offering them the care and love they deserve in a home environment.
Members of the Second Star Sponsor Club commit to donating regularly to help us financially support the ongoing needs and medical care of the Sponsor Pets. This way we can all play our part in helping these pets that would otherwise likely live out their life in the rescue.
Joining our Sponsor Club couldn't be easier and sponsorship starts at just £10 per month (£2.50 a week) You will receive regular email updates on your chosen sponsor pet. If you would like to join please contact us on our finance email: Secondstar.finance@outlook.com
Blanket came to us from a local vets who saved her after she was taken in for metabolic bone disease, a condition that effected the growth of the bones in her legs causing them to bow. This is usually caused by nutritional deficiency from a young age. The vets managed to get Blanket back to full health, however due to the amount of time spent with the vets she missed out on socialising at a crucial age. In foster she has really come out her shell and has successfully built her confidence around other people and animals but she can still be a little temperamental. She must be fed a high quality diet (which comes at significant cost) to support her development as she is still growing. She must remain an indoor only cat as she is less agile than other cats her age and she has problems retracting her claws meaning she needs regular nail clips to avoid getting stuck.
